“It just goes too fast!”

Posted by Jeremy under: US .

An American car owner is suing the car’s manufacturer because his car is capable of driving faster than the speed limit, which could cause him bodily harm.

That’s essentially the argument that’s being presented to a California court this week about the volume pumped out by Apple’s Ipod.

Article from the Financial Times

Apple Computer’s popular iPod music player was facing a new legal threat after an aggrieved customer filed a class action complaint claiming the comany did not adequately warn customers about the potential for damaging hearing loss from playing its popular music player at full volume.

It seems to me like someone’s digging for gold…not unlike McDonald’s hot coffee from years ago.

The iPod user manual already warns customers about the potential for permanent hearing loss if the player’s earphones or headphones are used a high volume. But the complaint alleged that Apple did not advise users about what constituted a high volume or a safe level of noise.

I really hope that the judge charges this guy for wasting the court’s time.

It’s great that he’s bringing the issue, of loud music causing hearing loss, to the front pages of the nation’s newspapers, but people have to be accountable for their actions - if you “crank it up” all the time, you know you’ll likely lose your hearing over time. That’s a given.
