Scientists in BC, Canada, have discovered a link between gene mutation and dementia.

The Globe & Mail reports:

“This is an illness that robs people of their mental faculties in their middle life,” said Howard Feldman, director of the UBC Hospital Clinic for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders. “And it’s particularly noteworthy for the devastation it has on behaviour and social conduct.”…They traced an inherited form of frontotemporal dementia, or FTD, to mutations in the progranulin gene.
