UBC Hockey at GM Place for under $20

UBC Thunderbirds Hockey at GM Place
The UBC Thunderbirds are playing four games at GM Place this season. The first game is this Friday, December 1, 2006. Canucks Alumni to play in a double-header on Sunday…

The UBC Thunderbirds hockey team finds themselves without a home this winter as they rebuild the UBC arena for the 2010 Olympics. While I’m sure it’s an inconvenience for the team, it gives hockey fans a chance to experience GM Place hockey for a fraction of the cost of Canucks tickets.

Organize a group of 10 or more people and tickets are only $5 each. Family-Packs are $28. Special student pricing too.

Canucks Alumni vs. UBC Alumni – December 3rd

December 3rd is a game you don’t want to miss. It’s a double-header featuring the Canucks Alumni vs. the UBC Thunderbirds Alumni and then the UBC Thunderbirds against Lethbridge Pronghorns.

The Alumni game starts at 12:30 and the UBC Thunderbird game starts at 2pm.

Rumour has it that Jyrki Lumme, Cliff Ronning, Greg Adams, and Kirk Mclean will be playing…I’m sure there will be many more familiar faces at GM Place on Sunday.

UBC competes in the highly-competitive Canada West Conference, which features many former stars of the Western Hockey League and Ontario Hockey League, as well as top-tier players from the BC Hockey League and elsewhere.

All proceeds from the games are going to support UBC Athletics – so get out there and have a great time at the Good Ol’ Hockey Game!

  1. John,

I hope you’ll take advantage of these games!

Maybe I’ll even get the chance to meet you and Rebecca at one of the games. It’s a great opportunity to UBC to showcase its hockey program – and a perfect chance for all of us to watch some hockey at GM Place and still be able to pay the mortgage.

  2. Cool!
Re: Rumours – sounds about right, those guys usually do the alumni circuit (they played in that game vs PoCoMo a few weeks back).
